shillllihs - not sure what you are talking about - did you not review the trade log Kevin kept everyone updated daily on from the start through his call to stop updating the log posted 11/1?
How bad is that?
Where are you getting your "good for @ 20%" from?
Sorry I just don't follow what you are referring to and if memory serves me correctly Kevin is on vacation.

When I asked what exit should be for the 3X short filter, I was told next morning(a loss) but he claimed he held longer for a win.

To clarify - the 3x ETF shorting filters I use each have their own exit signal. None are held only for one day (that was a different system that I fully posted back in August). Please read what I post before assuming anything. It will save both of us time and keep things civil.

jackmack: I think what he means is that you divide your funds into five slices. Kevin's backtests show that it is rare for more than 5 triggers to be active at a time, so using more than 5 slices leaves too much money on the sidelines.

Exactly. The goal is to maximize the use of your funds, and trading only 5 units seems to be the sweet spot. It also allows you to average into a trade if the price goes against you.

silllllihs

Well, I think I showed it clearly that, when the appropriate vehicle is used, with the discipline of following the system, In 13 trades , I lost 8$ once, and made money in 12 others , for a total profit of 7 158.00 $.
This system works, until proven otherwise, sorry.
When you use 3 x vehicle for longs , and XIV for shorts, etc, it's your choice; do not blame the system.
We all admitted that trading a surrogate of VIX was a risk we took, as we did not know what was the best one.
Using a more prudent approach vs a super leveraged one seemed to me a more logical one.

Ok, it seemed like this has been getting beaten bad multiple times. I think it's long Vix now right?
And then Kevin took off for 2 weeks when things were really getting bad.
Ok, I guess it's great. I apologize.
Just to be fair, I am scrutinized daily. I have not critiqued anyone in months.
But my opinion stands. Every system ever created here crumbles to
the ground. Nothing ever endures. If you think I'm wrong, go back & look at the scrap heap.

Just to make sure everyone is up to date on system performance, here are all of the trades opened and closed since 11/1 (my last update):

Symbol L/S EntryDate EntryPrice ExitDate ExitPrice GrossTrade NetTrade DaysHeld
^VIX Long 11/10/2016 14.03 11/11/2016 14.81 5.85% 5.56% 1
^VIX Short 11/3/2016 19.83 11/11/2016 14.85 25.29% 25.11% 6
^VIX Short 11/2/2016 19.07 11/10/2016 14.03 26.61% 26.43% 6
^VIX Short 11/2/2016 19.07 11/15/2016 14.18 25.83% 25.64% 9
^VIX Short 11/2/2016 19.07 11/10/2016 14.03 26.61% 26.43% 6
^VIX Short 10/28/2016 15.65 11/8/2016 18.94 -20.74% -21.02% 7
^VIX Short 10/28/2016 15.65 11/10/2016 14.03 10.59% 10.35% 9
^VIX Short 10/27/2016 14.35 11/10/2016 14.03 2.51% 2.23% 10

Others here - please verify. To me it looks like the system has continued to perform admirably with only one loss in the last 8 trades.

We have 2 open long trades that are currently down, but no exit has been triggered yet. Patience.

Remember that in each trade you are not committing more than 20% of your equity assigned to this approach (which should be one of several investing strategies in play, to help smooth out any rough patches).
