 I don't care about Quantcha, but I do think if you have long positions you should protect them w/ puts.

 Only if I'm short the underlying.  :)  Inverse covered call per se.
 
 Buying options is typically a losing game.  Buying an option is good for a hedge type position, bear call spread, bull put spread or etc.
 
 I would have to respectfully disagree with Karen.  If you want short delta, short the market against your long delta portfolio.
